Interlude

“How much larger your life would be if your self could become smaller in it; if you could really look at others with common curiosity and pleasure. You would break out of this tiny and tawdry theatre in which your own little plot is always being played, and you would find yourself under a freer sky, in a street full of splendid strangers.”
― G. K. Chesterton

Today, we all find ourselves in an entirely different play/theater than we ever expected, don’t we? And no one is spared from the alarming plot twists, not even Prince Charles. As I mentioned yesterday, I have started into a quiet phase, in my own little lifetime’s drama. I guess that I’m in an interlude. I find myself soaking in all sorts of information, from all different sources and none of it is making any real sense to me yet. And that’s okay. Perhaps the biggest lesson to come out of all this will be patience.

Yesterday I took a long nap. This is the longest nap that I think that I have taken in probably, a decade. I don’t typically like to nap. I guess I hoped that by taking this long, daytime nap, I would either have a lucid dream that explained everything to me in a way that made perfect sense, and put me at ease with all of this, or better yet, I would wake up to find that this whole coronavirus thing was just a really bad nightmare that I could wake up from. Neither of those outcomes occurred for me, but I did feel well-rested, and yet still restless. I am very restless.

How are you all coping? I still see readers in my stats, but there haven’t been many comments, lately. Are you in introspective interludes, as well? Have any “truths” arisen to the surface from your wise internal “knowing”, your “Being”, since all of this began? As I said, I’m absorbing all of the information, perspectives, and reactions to this situation that I feel like I can soak in, on any one day, from all different sources. You, my trusted readers, friends and confidantes, are whose viewpoints, I would most like to take in. If you are feeling the inclination and the energy, at least let me know that you are okay.

Love. Peace. Hope. Stay well.

  1. I hope this reaches everyone in health and safety. My family and I are well and safe with enough food and comfort at home, so we are truly blessed.
This is not what anyone would have chosen, but I try to look on the bright side each day and occasionally turn off the news. My kids call me “Pollyanna”.
I find your posts, and fuzzy animals on Instagram, as well as funny memes, help alleviate the stress and help me cope.

    1. Good to hear from you, Pam! Thank you for being a Pollyanna! The Pollyannas of the world are needed more than ever. <3

  2. I’m reminded of :

The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it.

This event may be our opportunity to reflect, delve deeper into ourselves, take naps and explore the inner world of dreams, enjoy birthdays with who really matter in our lives (best wishes to your daughter), recognize and make relationships stronger if they’re meant to be (your son being unable to see his gf) and know that our time on earth is a gift & this too shall pass.

Thanks again for sharing your heart and life. It brings a sense of normalcy.
    God bless your family

    1. Thank you, Jan! So good to hear from you. Your words always ring so true and wise. Blessings!

  3. Checking in, per your request!
I’ve turned this thing into an “art retreat”. I’m on creative “full steam ahead”.
Now, if only I didn’t have to rack up 32 hours of #workingfromhome (total per week)

  4. Greetings from SoCal!

Such an interesting time we are living in, isn’t it?
It feels like “real life” is on perpetual hold, and during this time we are supposed to pause, open our minds and hearts, and truly LEARN something. Create a shift in our collective thinking. Prepare for the future a bit differently than we have been doing.

In this regard, I am looking forward to April. Whether or not you follow astrology or numerology, both disciplines predict that April is “Angel month”. There are no planets in retrograde; nothing to drag us backwards into heavy energy. It is also an “8” month, and 8 is the number of infinite possibilities. April is the perfect time for us ALL to focus on positive, uplifting thoughts for humanity. It’s the time to pray for health and happiness for all. It’s the time to concentrate on our political situation, asking for divine guidance through the partisan morass that has been created in this country. Let’s ask for a leader with exceptional moral discernment to guide us forward.

On a personal level, it is time to focus on our individual goals and desires. Be open to the possibility that you will change your life for the better. Be ready for some amazing shifts in perspective, and express gratitude for all that you’ve been given. Allow the people, things, and ideas that no longer serve your best interest to fall away. It will be easier to let that happen in the next 30 days. Sometimes we fight what we know is best for us because change – even positive change – is scary. Do not allow yourself to be ruled by your fears. Now is the time to embrace joy and happiness and share it with those we love.

  5. Hello…

Never miss your blog…but have been a little overwhelmed with this new normal. Finally settling into some form of routine and this is my 13th day of lock-down. Insta-cart and Grub-Hub are my newest bestest friends…lol.
    Indiana is closed, it seems.

    You stay safe!

    1. I’m happy that you are finding your routine, Carla. I’m still struggling with that one, truthfully. Thanks for checking in. Stay well!

  6. I always love your blog and seeing such inspiring and insightful comments from faithful readers is such a welcomed positive uplift. Thank you all!
I feel like I’m still a little in shock how quickly our world has changed. But I really see this as a time for pause and to slow down, and get back to the basics. I think the world needs that. One good thing out of all of this, with less people out driving, flying, traveling about we are allowing earth to take a much needed breath.
I do hope that we will all come out of this with an important lesson.
Of course I am hoping my work and life can just pause a bit too so I can get back to reading more, get out in my yard more, take naps, find my inner artist and creative side, play cards, etc. I like the idea of April. I’m holding out hope for that. ?
